sir,
98
With reference to your letter No 6319 of the 28th March respecting the medical examination of Police Constable James Ritchie, I have the honour to enclose a copy of a report by Sir Douglas Maclagan, to whom we sent your letter and its enclosure.
2. With reference to the second paragraph of your letter, our practice is, on the rare occasions on which
complaints are made as to the medical examination of
officers, to forward the complaint to the doctor concerned for his observations, and we think that this should be
sufficient to ensure the requisite degree of strictness.
I return the original enclosures to your letter.
I have the honour to be,
3.
Sir,
Your Obedient Servant,
e Under Secretary of State,
